(of things) \u201cto be equivalent to,\u201d \u201cto count as,\u201d \u201cto signify.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Kittel, G., Friedrich, G., &amp; Bromiley, G. W. (1995). Theological Dictionary of the New Testament (186).<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">With this meaning, we can understand that the reason why the eye cannot say to the hand &#8220;I don&#8217;t need you&#8221; is that the eye has <em>no power through its own will<\/em> to make the hand unneeded.\u00a0 It isn&#8217;t that the part of the body known as the eye <em>cannot utter<\/em> these words to another part of the body.\u00a0 <\/span>In fact<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"> these words are said often enough in the Church.\u00a0 When it comes to men claiming that <em><strong>they<\/strong><\/em> don&#8217;t need women teachers, these words are not uncommon.\u00a0 Instead of an inability to <em><strong>say<\/strong><\/em> the words, it is an inability to <em><strong>will it to<\/strong><strong> be so<\/strong><\/em> by the mere fact of one&#8217;s claim.\u00a0 The eye&#8217;s claim to not need the hand has no effect on the <em><strong>eye&#8217;s need<\/strong><\/em> nor does the eye&#8217;s claim <em>take away<\/em> the usefulness of the hand for the good of the eye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Another thing that is noteworthy in the grammar is that the term &#8220;cannot say&#8221; is either middle or passive.\u00a0 The middle voice signifies that the subject of the verb is being affected by its own action or is acting upon itself.\u00a0 Could it be that the eye is being affected by its own claim to not need another body part?\u00a0 The eye has no power to make the hand not needed, but the mere fact that it confidently claims that it has no need of the hand, is affecting its own well-being, for to deny that you have a need makes you blind to God&#8217;s provision for that need.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The body of Christ is a body ministry where each of us are needed and each gift that God has distributed among us is needed.\u00a0 So why is it that many men say that they do not need for a woman teacher when this personal rejection of their own need is contradicted by 1 Corinthians 12:21? 1 Corinthians 12:21 (NASB95) 21And the eye cannot say to the hand, \u201cI have no need of you\u201d; or again the head to the&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"read-more\"><a class=\"btn btn-default\" href=\"https:\/\/mmoutreach.org\/wim\/2011\/04\/21\/i-dont-need-you\/\"> Read More<span class=\"screen-reader-text\">  Read More<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":[]},"categories":[24,39,52,55,62,72],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.2.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Why the eye cannot say to the hand &quot;I don&#039;t need you&quot; - Women in Ministry<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Why men are not allowed to say that they do not need women teachers.
